As the National Numbering Agency, KDPW is also authorised to issue FISN – Financial Instrument Short Name.
The terms of issuing FISN codes are developed under the in¬ternational technical standard ISO 18774 and the guidelines of the Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA). KDPW issues FISN only for those instruments which are assi¬gned ISIN codes by KDPW.
FISN has up to 35 alphanumeric characters including:
- issuer short name, up to 15 alphanumeric characters,
- “/” – separator between issuer name and financial instrument description,
- financial instrument description, up to 19 alphanumeric characters.
FISN codes are designed to support single standards in the in¬ternational financial market and are useful in a broad range of securities processing functions including reporting, confirma¬tion, clearing and bank reporting. FISN codes will be used broadly following the launch of Target2-Securities.
